Missing libcrypto file

If you are missing libcrypto-1_1-x64.dll for the server, download this to the location of server.exe.

Can not join server / can not see any servers in the server browser

If you get an error like “connection failed due to an error” or you can’t see any servers in the server browser. Then it can have multiple causes. It’s either the wrong IP address, the current stability of the Network Library or a Firewall issue.
If you’re connecting directly by filling in an IP address, then make sure you’re using the right public IP address. If they have port forwarded, then you will need their public ip address of the person hosting the server. The public IP address can be found here.
This is not needed when you are making use of a Virtual LAN program (ie. Hamachi) or when you are playing on the same network (local).
The person hosting the server on the same computer as he’s playing on should be able to connect to the server using localhost (
If there is still an issue, then it is most likely the firewall blocking the connection. The fix for this issue can be found here.
If that still doesn’t work, then the port forward rule has probably been set up wrong. Make sure you’ve filled in the right information, the Public IP Address of the person hosting the server and the right port. If it still doesn't work, then it is potentially a problem related to your Router’s Firewall settings or internet connection.
Another possibility is that the server you are trying to connect to is running on an outdated server version. The server host should manually delete the server and update it.

JavaScript error when trying to run Harbor

The JavaScript error while trying to run Harbor is caused by an antivirus program blocking the program from running. We have the following fix for this issue here and here.

Crash when you see / load other players

This is either a problem of a corrupt save or a situation where the crossplay ability creates the crash. (crossplay is playing with two players, playing different versions of skyrim; Skyrim Special Edition and Skyrim). Crossplay with oldrim is known to cause issues.
Try loading an earlier save or a fresh save. If that doesn’t fix it. It could potentially be another player causing the crash with their corrupted save. It could also be a bug causing the crash or as mentioned a bug related to crossplay.

Missing UI / no chat box

This could be either your anti-virus deleting/blocking it. Or some files that are corrupted.
First try adding the exceptions in your antivirus, how to do that can be found here and here.
Shaders like ENB ReShade are known to cause issues and it’s not recommended to use them.
If that doesn’t fix it, try deleting the Online folder in the Data folder which can be found in the install location of your Skyrim. (ie. Skyrim/Data/Online) Potentially some corrupt UI files create the problem.

Connection failed (Hamachi)

You are either using the wrong ipV4 address or Firewall is blocking it. The firewall fix can be found here.
Potentially the server you are trying to connect to is running on an outdated server version. The server host should manually delete the server file and let Harbor redownload it.

Stuck on installation/installation aborted

If your installation of Harbor either gets stuck or aborted, try the following:
  1. 1.
    Go to Control Panel
  2. 2.
    Click on Uninstall a program under Programs
  3. 3.
    Remove Harbor
  4. 4.
    Run the Harbor installer again.
NOTE: You must do this from the Control Panel > 'Programs and Features' and not Windows 10's 'Apps & features' or it will result in an error.
If this doesn’t work, then you could use our Skyrim Together Automatic Installer tool, found here, the instructions for STInstaller can be found on the same page.
Potentially it could also be your antivirus interfering with the installation, if that’s the case try disabling it during the installation. Or follow the steps to add antivirus exceptions here and here.

Right-Ctrl key

If you don't have a Right-Ctrl key, then we have the following workaround until we have a fix.
Download the file and right click > extract, to extract it to a folder (you can extract it to the Skyrim Folder if you wish) You may need a program to extract it like WinRar or 7-zip.

Skyrim Together logo in single player

If you get the Skyrim Together logo when starting Skyrim like normal, worry not. Skyrim Together currently replaces the intro screen but doesn’t revert it to it’s old state. For now you can ignore this and just keep on playing single player like normal. You can always make sure you aren’t playing Skyrim Together by looking at the top right while playing, if there is no watermark, then you are not playing Skyrim Together.

Crash to desktop upon loading a save / creation of new save

This could either be a corrupt save or corrupted UI files creating the crash. Try creating a new fresh save. We recommend connecting after completing the Intro sequence and Helgen cave. We also recommend saving while disconnected.
A possible fix for crashing to desktop upon loading a save is the following:
  1. 1.
    Load a previous save that does not crash
  2. 2.
    Create a New SAve and then type player.kill into the console (you can open/close the console using the ~ tilde key)
  3. 3.
    Load your save that would crash to desktop
  4. 4.
    Open the console again and type player.kill again and try to save again.
If that still doesn’t work, try a complete reinstallation of Skyrim Together and potentially a reinstall of Skyrim itself too.

Fraps / recording programs

Fraps and other recording programs (ie. Bandicam) may cause issues while running Skyrim Together. Unfortunately the only fix is to not use them while playing Skyrim Together Nightly Builds.

Disable Pausing Alt-Tabbing

To disable pausing while alt-tabbing/tabbed out, try the following fix:
  1. 1.
    Navigate to Skyrim.ini within `\Documents\My Games\Skyrim` or `\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition`
  2. 2.
    Add `bAlwaysActive=1` under `[GENERAL]`
  3. 3.
    Save the file and the game will no longer pause when alt-tabbed or unselected.

Creation Club error/crash while loading

1. Go to `C:\Users\[USER]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition`
2. Open `SkyrimCustom.ini` or create if missing
3. Add the following line to the file.

No port line/info

As of the latest server release which introduced the new Network Library, the ports line will no longer show up when running the server
As long as the value “started” shows up, it means that the server has started successfully.

It’s very likely that files used by Skyrim Together are deleted when they are detected, to prevent this from happening we recommend following the guides for anti-virus exceptions.

Skyrim Together is a Trojan?

Unfortunately there’s a bigger likelihood of Skyrim Together/Harbor being flagged as a Trojan because the program is unsigned and trying to do things similar to certain trojans.
Do not worry, that is a false positive because the code is similar to how malware does it, see this (method 1). What st_loader.exe does is to check if Steam is running, start it if it is not and then start Skyrim and inject our DLL. When there will be a signed DLL and executable it should disappear, for now we don't have a certificate to sign it.

Server.exe only shows one line

That's normal, the nightly builds video guide is over 2 years old.


To uninstall Skyrim Together, just uninstall Harbor in Control Panel > Programs and Features. We also have a removal tool so you can be sure everything is deleted or you can delete all the files manually.

Automatic Uninstallation / Removal Tool

The removal tool is a simple powershell script for quick removal of all files related to Skyrim Together. The tool is made by cikeZ, one of our moderators.
Uninstallation tool instructions :
1. Download the file STUninstaller.ps1
2. Place the file in your Skyrim install location, with the game executables. Default install location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition OR C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim
3. Right click the file and click “Run With Powershell”
